What is Acne?

Acne is a common skin condition. Some people only have a few impurities such as blackheads or whiteheads, while others suffer from severe inflammation, yet both conditions are referred to as acne. Excessive sebum production combined with an accumulation of dead skin cells can block the sebaceous glands. The acne that causes bacteria, P. Acnes, then multiplies in the sebaceous glands.

Acne affects young and old alike and can cause embarrassment, self-esteem issues and even acne scarring. Fortunately, there are now very effective acne treatments available. We are here to help.

We have answers

Choosing the most effective treatment for you depends on several factors, for example: the extent to which the acne is active, your skin type, and your personal wishes. Our skin therapist analyzes your skin and determines which acne treatment is the best for you.

LASER THERAPY  kills the bacteria associated with acne and promotes fresh skin renewal

    IV / IM  NUTRITIONAL therapy
    SKINCARE medical grade daily skincare

A treatment program for acne is intensive, and you yourself play an important role in this. The skin therapist will advise you on the right cosmeceuticals (products with active ingredients for the treatment of acne) to use at home.

How long is the treatment for acne?

You will need one to two treatments per week and a minimum of six treatments in order to get the best results. You may also need a follow-up treatment after three to six months.

At ALLUME MED SPA we will personalize a treatment plan tailored especially for your skin needs.

Unfortunately, one of the effects of acne can be scarring and marring of the facial surface.

95% of people who have had acne have some residual scarring.

What can be done?

LASER TREATMENT for acne scars focuses light on the top layers of your skin to break up scar tissue. At the same time, the treatment encourages new, healthy skin cells to grow and replace the scar tissue.

While this treatment doesn’t completely remove acne scars, it can reduce their appearance and also can minimize the pain caused by them.

If you have active acne, a darker skin tone, or very wrinkled skin, you might not be a good candidate for this treatment. Schedule your ZOOM consultation and see if you would be a good candidate for Laser Therapy for scarring.

Laser treatment for acne scarring works in two ways.

First, heat from the laser works to remove the top layer of your skin where a scar has formed. As this top layer of your scar peels off, your skin appears smoother, and the appearance of the scar is less noticeable.

As the scar tissue breaks apart, heat and light from the laser also encourage new, healthy skin cells to grow. Blood flow is drawn to the area by the heat of the laser, and inflammation is reduced as blood vessels in the scar are targeted.

All of this combines to make scars look less raised and red, giving them a smaller appearance. It also promotes the healing of your skin.

HYDRAFACIAL for acne can clean-up congestion, dry skin cells and old dermis to prepare the area for laser and microneedling.

MICRONEEDLING with PRF is especially effective in stimulating new skin growth and collagen production. As the laser treatment breaks the scar tissue apart, microneedling with PRF utilizes your body's own growth and healing factors to replace the scarring with new skin.

It is important to note that treatments for acne scarring  may have to be repeated on a schedule for best results and expectations should be discussed with your skincare expert.
